FAQ

How are words counted?

Words are counted by splitting text on whitespace characters (spaces, tabs, newlines). Multiple consecutive spaces count as a single separator. Empty strings between separators are excluded from the count.

Does this support languages other than English?

Yes. The character and word counters work with any language. Sentence detection relies on standard punctuation marks (. ! ?). The word frequency analysis supports Latin-script languages, accented characters, and CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) characters.

How accurate is the reading time estimate?

The reading time uses 225 words per minute, which is the commonly accepted average for adult readers. Actual reading speed varies by individual and content complexity. Technical content may be slower (150-200 wpm) while casual content may be faster (250-300 wpm).

Is my text data sent to a server?

No. All counting and analysis runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded, stored, or processed on any server.
